University of Miami Full Sized Helmet Singed by Jessie Armstead/Michael Barrow.
This helmet was originally purchased from a collector in the late 90s. who specialized in refurbishing helmets to create a full sized authentic helmet with the University of Miami logo and colors. This helmet is not a game used helmet, is not being sold as a game used or game issued helmet and there is nothing to suggest that this helmet should be used for game play in a Miami Hurricanes football game. The helmet does have some markings to indicate it was used at some point, but by whom, when and at what level, I cannot be certain.
As for the autographs, those were obtained in person, signed on December 7, 2003 after the Redskins 20-7 victory over the New York Giants at Giants Stadium where I was granted special post-game access under the tunnel of Giants stadium. This is where the Armstead and Barrow signatures were obtained. Barrow at the time was a member of the Giants and Armstead was closing out his NFL career with Washington.
Both Armstead and Barrow were teammates at "The U" where both won National Championships in 1989 and 1991 with the Canes. Armstead and Barrow, along with Darrin Smith, made up the most feared and successful linebacking units in all of college football.
Armstead and Barrow would later play 2 seasons together for the Giants in 2000 and 2001.
Barrow's signature is accompanied by his #56 (his number in college) along with WWJD inscription, while Armstead's signature includes his college jersey number (#1) and the inscription, "It's a Canes Thang."
Truly a wonderful item for the Canes fan in your life that fondly remembers the dominance that was the University of Miami in the late 80s and early 90s. Looking to find a nice, loving home where this helmet can be displayed in a den, home office or man cave. After nearly 20 years in my possession, it's time for someone else to enjoy this as much as I have.
