Description
General Dwight D. Eisenhower was an avid amateur Stereo Realist photographer in the late 1940s. When he was elected President, David White Co. executives approached him for the purpose of creating a commemorative boxed set of Stereo Realist slides covering his and V.P. Nixon's inauguration in 1951. The stereo enthusiast, Eisenhower, was pleased with the idea and the boxed set containing 50 stereo slides and a Realist Handi-Viewer was created for presentation to attending dignitaries, and to sell to the general public. This listing is for the Presentation Box and Handi-Viewer. It's been in my possession for many years, but I was never able to obtain the 50 slides to complete the set. Perhaps the winning bidder will have better luck than I've had. I am including 2 very dead batteries with this offering, because I believe they were originally part of the package, and/or their Feb. 1956 expiration date lends a certain provenance to the set, with or without the slides.
The Realist Handi-Viewer alone is worth the price of the opening bid. Like the two batteries, I don't believe the viewer was ever used, either.
