    These sonatas were originally written for clavecin and violin.  Each movement has three sections; fast-slow-fast.  The second edition of the sonatas were designated for the new pedal harp as well as the prevailing keyboard instruments of the time.
    Susann McDonald, originally from Rock Island, Illinois, studied harp in Chicago and New York.  At fifteen, she moved to Paris to study with world-famous harhpist, Henriette Renie.  In Paris, she won the coveted "Premiere Prix" at the Conservatoire National de Musique.  While at the conservatory, she also studied with Lily Laskine.  She is the former head of the Harp Department at Indiana University and the founder of the World Harp Congress.
