SEA ANEMONES
Sea anemones are the marine,
predatory animals of the order Actiniaria.
They are named after the anemone,
a terrestrial flowering plant, because of the colourful
appearance of many.
When at rest in their
native element, Sea
Anemones present the
appearance of beautiful
marine flowers. Despite
appearances, however,
they are very voracious
animals, and they catch
their food by the long
tentacles which surround
their mouths. They can
move with a gliding mo-
tion, though they are
usually fixed to one spot.
