After a successful career at Virginia Tech he was drafted in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Rushed for over a 1,000 yards in his rookie season, becoming only the 3rd Lion behind Billy Simms, and Barry Sanders to accomplish this as a rookie. In 2008 Jones was signed by the Chicago Bears, he played for them for 2008 & 2009.
