Rare Elvis Presley Button in Yiddish “Oy Gevalt Elvis” from 1956.
Button is 3 3/8" in diameter.
In very good condition.
Oy Gevalt is a Yiddish saying that translates to "oh the violence", and used to express shock or amazement.
It's a phrase that can be used in the context of you accidentally spill something, for example.
I do not speak Yiddish, and I was unaware of how the Jewish community helped support and propel Elvis to fame.
The button was made in 1956, when Elvis had just made his debut!
